Hi. I would like to get in touch with Rob & Judith Eyton from New Zealand. I am a descendant of John and Mary Eyton, through their youngest daughter, Elizabeth, who married John Griffiths, my gggrandparents.
If someone has an email address for Rob & Judith, i would love to make contact.
Thanks in advance.

My 3rd great grandfather is George W. Eaton of Plainville, CT. He was born in 1824 and died in 1906. I am looking for information on his parents. Will a membership here help me? Or can you point me in a direction to look? Help, I'm stuck! Thanks in advance.

p.s. The family legend is that we are descended from Francis Eaton who arrived on the Mayflower but I have not been able to make that connection.

I think early on, many families who were descended from someone named Eaton assumed they were connected to Francis Eaton of Mayflower since he was first recorded Eaton in America, but we can check to see if we have any info as to where or who your George was related. As for membership, the EFA is a great way to connect with other Eaton descendants to learn more about your heritage for sure, but there is much more to membership besides just tracking "grandpa." We are a family group who work, research and investigate our heritage. The goal is to create fellowship as well as information and to discover, share and protect our Eaton legacy. We do so with collective research, sharing facts and information, consolidating and publishing findings, as well as participating in family reunions such as the one we will be having in Oct of this year. We also produce a monthly newsletter with all kinds of stories and articles on your Eaton family, but in the broader context, so if all you want is just to trace a few additional members of your own individual line, perhaps membership is not right for you. If we do have information, we will so advise and would love to have you join our group as a fellow Eaton, but you have to decide what is best for you and what you truly might want out of membership. Nonetheless, thank you for your interest, and we will see what more we can discover about your George.

We are not familiar with this particular family, but contacted Chester Cathedral as to where they might keep their older records. They suggested, "The best thing to do would be to go to Cheshire Archives and Local Studies and contact them. We have sent an email to them regarding your family and will await further info.

We do see a William Eaton in the 1880 Census for Galveston. He was born 1825 in England. Wife is Jane and he has children; William, John, Bella, Lilly, Eliz. His occupation is a Cooper. All but the last child were born in Alabama, so he must have gone there first. Sure enough the family is shown in Mobile, Alabama in 1860 and 1870, occupation Bayman. There is death record for a William Reese Eaton in July 1911 in Galveston and a grave record that shows he had a wife Jane Hand. It appears he immigrated directly to Mobile in 1855. Does any of this look familiar?

Peter: Would you be interested in participating in our DNA study. Even though you are not a male "Eaton" at present, perhaps we could still learn something from your DNA markers that might help us further identify this Eaton group or perhaps you have another member of your family who is a descending "Male Eaton" who might be willing to have a cheek swab. If so, please get in touch with our Family Genealogist, Doug MacMillan, who is also in charge of our DNA program.

Greetings Site Administrator,

I am interested in joing this family association but I'm wondering if there is a way to confirm relation to my Eaton family line first. I have not been able to trace ( with certainty) any earlier than Benjamin Eaton b1793- d 1888. I know he died in IL and have visited his grave. I have not been able to confirm his parents. Might this site help me confirm his ancestors? Thanks, paul

We are writing a book on the History of Great Budworth.
The Eaton's were vicars and curates there in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. We are interested in any information about the Eatons who have lived in Great Budworth

That is so exciting. We'd be happy to share the information we have or know about, but many of the family figures are still a little ambiguous. What would you like to know?

My mother-in-law's maiden name was Eaton. Her Gr Grandfather George (b 25/03/1809, Southgate London-d 08/10/1878, Luddenham, NSW, Australia) emigrated in 1848 with his wife Eliza Harris (b 1812, Tottenham-d 05/03/1892, Luddenham) with their children Eliza (14), Ann (12), George (9), William (6) & Elizabeth (baby). They had 4 more children Joh, Henry, Sarah & Charles. Would anyone know more about them? I have George (b1809) parents listed John Eaton & Ann Stacey from Southgate. John's parents listed as John William & Mary from Gloucester.

You are mostly correct. William is one of 6 children of Solomon Gould Eaton, by his first wife. Her name remains a mystery, they were probably married in Chester,Warren, New York, but could have been in Barre, Orleans County. Williams wife Lydia, Woods for Williams wife is new Information for me. Solomon was my 2nd great grandfather.
